Learn to play piano for free! This works best with either a small portable keyboard so you can have the lessons in front of your computer screen. If you have a laptop to move around or the ability to connect to a TV screen... even better! Lessons are divided into starter, immediate and advanced courses and begin with the basics of notes, staffs, octaves and key position.
Eight free units(20 lessons total) of piano lessons covering beginning piano. Posture, finger position, musical alphabet, key location, rhythm, finger pressure and chords. You DO get to play short songs throughout to help keep interest and develop a sense of achievment.
A FABULOUS site for all things classical music, The land of music awaits you! Meet the orchestra, study composers, listen to music samples, create your OWN music and use lesson plans to bring it all together. Gotta run that day? They even have a podcast on iTunes... downloadable AS ALWAYS!
With a section especially for homeschoolers, you'll find a simple breakdown of the orchestra, sheet music for 14 instruments, composer biographies, worksheets and fun ways to learn music theory.
The "Famous Musicians" page here is very well done. Following the Charlotte Mason style, you will study one composer each month. There are enough listed here to cover two full school years! A wall chart, composer pictures, biography map and music appreciation sheets are included!
I love this site for multiple reasons. The composer unit studies here are phenomenal! Each group covers a specific era and highlights between 6-9 composers. Baroque, Romantic, 18-1900's, and even one specifically made for CC Cycles 1-3. For a free interactive study on Handel, click here.
