A great primer for reading and spelling, these readers are classics. Available to download and print, read online or use in the Kindle app, they are broken down into 7 levels (Primer through 6th Edition). Start at the beginning and cover them all of take time to review what your family needs and chose the ones that help the most.
Grammar can be a bit intimidating, if we let it. Learn parts of speech, sentence structure and mechanics one day at a time. Register for an account and have lessons sent to your inbox. Workbooks and go-alongs can be printed from the site.
Taking things further than the basics and building sentences, the Essay and Research paper section is is a valuable addition for our older learners, including me! learning the differences is writing styles, points of view and refining the purpose of your writing really helps to fine tune things.
An oldie but goodie, these short, song filled animations are incredibly effective! I find myself humming them while sweeping.... I KNOW! Long words and confusing concepts become a family favorite with their YouTube channel. Yes- I said YouTube. That means restricted mode on, parental units within line of site, ad blocker enabled and watching in full screen mode for the CLEANEST experience. ;)
Now.... for all of that writing... The LARGEST source of free pages I could find. Access to the entire collection does require a purchase (we have their lifetime membership and LOVE IT)! However, registration alone will get you quite a few subjects (600 pages FOR FREE)! All printable in greyscale. Lined, picture boxes, and everything in between!

Fantastic for early readers, you'll get much more than site words on this professionally created site. The digital page turning and read along technology includes audio you can click on (repeatedly, if needed to reinforce new words). Introduce vocabulary from subjects like computers, nature and cooking then delve into a book about colors, weather, the five senses or use the language selector to tolerant how they say something in another country!
