-Math-

This site is the base for the "Math Mammoth" videos on YouTube and DOES link to those. A list of math games, links to ebooks and worksheets are included. Educational ads appear here.

Author of "Calculus for Dummies, the "JMT" stands for just math tutorials. Using HUNDREDS of clips, this gentleman starts with the basics and breaks things down into easy to understand bites that carry through to the more complex end of mathematics. He does offer live help and personal tutoring for purchase, but the videos were free as of the links publishing. Ads are minimal.

Run by Manhattan Community College, The Math Page is more hands on for parents. Covering arithmetic through calculus, the lessons (some visuals provided) are read aloud and examples done on paper prior to the written assignments. All answers are revealed by moving your mouse over the red square beside the problem. Ads are minimal.

Not to be confused the with the paid high school program, this Master Math is for grades 6-8. Each lesson includes a 10-20 minute video, 3 practice problems with step by step solutions and a printable worksheet. Answer sheets are available, along with a quiz page to see how well things re coming along.

Worksheets are the name of the game here! Find them by grade or by concept and print away. Basic math, order of operations, word problems, fractions, decimals, percentages, and a bit of pre-algebra and basic geometry. It's a great compliment to any math program. Ad blocker is helpful here.

This site is unique in that it focuses on high school math courses and exam prep. Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, ACT and SAT are covered with both illustrated and video lessons.

With printable workbooks for addition and subtraction, this one is off to a good start. Basic arithmetic through Pre-Algebra are covered, although the higher lessons leave a little to be desired (and I wouldn't use this as a stand alone curriculum). I feel it's quite adequate as a supplemental program through the fractions level. Activities and quizzes are a nice addition. The Adobe Flash plug-in is required to play them. You can download it here.

Most of the sites with free math worksheets only cover up to middle school or so. This one covers algebra, geometry and even statistics. It also has pages that contain words problems. A big plus when trying to cover of all of the math bases at home.

This one was a game changer for me. I struggled with math in school myself, so when it came time to teach pre-algebra at our house... there was a bit of panic. Enter Professor Leonard. An EXTREMELY generous math professor who has created videos for everything from pre-algebra to calculus. His new introductory video explains that he really just wants everyone to be able to understand math. He has recorded his full length classroom sessions (HIGHLY recommended for first time learners) and shorter videos that make great refreshers. I love the pre-algebra ones in particular because he reviews everything you need to know before diving in and does MANY problems on the board. Just pause and dive in to do them yourself!
