-Read Online-

This is one of the most user friendly "read online" sites. Not only does it have over 5,000 free books, it also allows you to create a "book shelf" where you can collect your favorites, rate books and pick up where you left off. Registration required.

If you're looking for a great selection of  classic books online, this may just be it. Ok, they're not ALL classic, but close. The catalog contains OVER 53,000 literary works in at least five languages! Seriously! Broken down into 243 categories, to make finding the book you need a little easier, they've really got it all.

Genre specific, but a great find, nonetheless. A fabulous collection of books and readings based on King Arthur, Guinevere and others of the like. It's very apparent that a lot of time and effort were put in here. The collection is quite extensive.

Love the categories (and the selection) here! Millions of books, yes, I said millions. No need to be overwhelmed... with categories like American Library, Newspapers, PubMed and Manual Library, it's a cornucopia of how-to's, current events and good old reading for fun!

Formerly "Books Should Be Free," this site offers over 7,000 plus books in over 20 categories. Mark Twain, Louisa May Alcott, Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Henry David Thoreau- just to scratch the surface.

Another great one when it comes to selection, but I'd love to highlight the reference section of this site. Not only do they have the 1918 version of Gray's Anatomy, (beautifully illustrated) Roget's Dictionary and Thesaurus from 1922, multiple publications to walk you through Parliamentary Procedure and over 2,000 original versions of Reader's Digest condensed books!
